New York Love in Hollywood

Julie was set to marry the love of her life at the Beverly Wilshire in Hollywood California on October 15th. Julie and Ayal live in New York but Julie had grown up in the Los Angeles area. She was actually a bridesmaid in the LA Glamour wedding. She was one of Laura’s best friends and of course that meant we got see Laura & Arthur again a year later. We were really excited to have the chance to work with Julie and her mom! Julie was one of the classiest brides; she is confident, poised and carries herself with a tremendous amount of elegance and grace. This was a fun design to work on; Julie had this vision of a “New York vintage / flee market” decor. We put together three different design concepts that would work with this design and each one had a different color combo to it. She ended up liking all of them so much that we kind of meshed them all together and pulled her favorites from each one. The pallet started with Navy blue and was accented with a soft pink. The place card table was one of our most favorite creations that we have done. The florists Kim with “Art by Nature” stacked up colored vintage suit cases at different levels and opened the ones on top of the each stack. Inside of the suit case was a lush blanket of moss lined with vintage compasses that had each of the guest’s names and table number. We had a framed sign that stated “Find your compass” It will guide you to your seat where you will begin an evening of love, laughter, family and friends…” Jewish weddings don’t start until dusk; so it was absolutely the perfect ambiance to start the night of love. The aisle was lined with rose petals in soft shades of pink and ivory with candles placed throughout. The most beautiful part of the ceremony was when Julie and Ayal walked around each other in a circle 7 times. The passion in their eyes was pure romance…it gave us chills. Julie’s dress was straight out of a classic vintage glamour magazine. She looked so beautiful! After the ceremony everyone was invited to the rooftop of the Beverly Wilshire where drinks were flowing and live music was playing as the guests enjoyed the cool night air. We had up lighting around the building that gave off a soft glow and perfect ambiance.

“The passion in their eyes was pure romance...it gave me chills.”

As the guests were invited down to the reception, they came across the guest book table. Julie had found a painting of a big oak tree. She bought about 4 different stamp colors for the guests to use and the guests would leave a thumb print in the color of their choice on each branch of the tree. When this was complete at the end of the night, it was picture perfect. They had the best piece of art for their home in New York. This table was adorned with a ton of flowers, vintage soup tins, a typewriter with a letter to their guests and mercury glass candles. Such a fabulous table scape!

The reception was filled with flowers in every corner of the room. The lounge room had a vintage photo booth and small conversation arrangements of vintage furniture in navy blue velvet. Each side table had something different; old world globes, wood letters, mercury glass candles and mini typewriters. This really set the mood for a New York flee market. Everywhere you looked, there was something different. All of the linens were pink champagne with a sheer overlay pinned up at each corner. The napkins were a navy blue satin that gave the perfect contrast to the pallet. For the high cocktail tables and other accent tables, we used the navy blue satin linens. The guest tables were adorned with mercury glass and candelabras in the middle with flowers cascading down in soft shades of pink and ivory and then accented with dark eggplant dahlias. Breathtaking! The guests enjoyed an amazing dinner and for dessert there was not only a cake but a “Pinkberry” station. It was so fun and a perfect ending to the night. Julie and Ayal danced the night away with their friends and family. The event was so perfect. We were so lucky to be a part of this one and create an amazing design with Julie. She has great style and class!
